Board Minutes for May 12, 2015

Dean Otto called the meeting to order at 10:00.

Present were: Dean Otto, Marsha Othoudt, Arlene Neilsen, Barbara Jackowell, Phyllis Granaas, Dennis Owens, and Pete Hagert.

Introductions were made to our new member, Marsha Othoudt.

The Minutes of the last meeting were read and approved.

Treasurer's Report Dean Otto gave the Treasurer’s report. The cemetery funds were lower due to fewer burials, and a loss on our investments. The expenses were also slightly lower due to the fewer burials. The lost on our investment was about $15,000. The financial committee re-met with Joe Michaletz who recommended a change. We are now in 3 different more conservative funds. The funds should have a 4-6% return on the investment. The investments will be reviewed in the fall. Payroll expense was to Dean and to Dale on a quarterly basis. Insurance expense was for liability insurance for accidents and workman’s compensation.

Acceptance of the treasurer’s report was moved and seconded.

Dale was not present but Dean gave his report. Our mower (who had quit) decided to return and continue mowing. Arborvitae trees that were eaten by deer are coming back. Pete and Dale will help put up flags for Memorial Day. A scout named Fitzloff who is working on his Eagle Scout Badge will paint the building. The cemetery will supply the paint. The cost of a new flag pole was discussed. Dennis added a 28’-32’ pole runs about $2,300. To $3,000.

Old business: The discussion of a Mausoleum was tabled until the fall report when Lynn can be here. Dean suggested that we leave our burial prices at $200.00 over what we are charged by Seppman’s. We will attempt an update of the website by fall.

The fall meeting was tentatively set for Sept. 22, 2015.

We discussed the up-coming Memorial Day Ceremonies at the cemetery. VFW Post #950 out of Mankato donates their services for the Ceremonies. They will be at Minneopa at about 10:45 on Memorial Day. It was decided to again make a donation to the Memorial Squad of $200.00.

Doug Johnson arrived in time to close the meeting.

Meeting Adjourned about 11:10.
